Nanda Devi Temple
The "Nanda Devi Temple", one of the sacred sites in Almora District of Uttarakhand state of Kumaon region, has special religious significance. The incarnation of "Goddess Durga" is enshrined in this temple. Nanda Devi Temple is situated at an elevation of 7816 meters from Samundratal, this temple is dedicated to "Isht Devi" mother Nanda Devi of Chand dynasty. Nanda Devi is the incarnation of Mother Durga and the consort of Lord Shankar and is worshiped as the main goddess of the mountainous region. Nanda Devi is the daughter of King Dakshaprajapati of Garhwal, so all the Kumaoni and Garhwali people consider her the daughter of Parvatanchal. Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra
Nanda Devi Raj Jat is a religious visit of a Nanda Devi to be held in Uttarakhand state of India. It is one of the most famous cultural events in Uttarakhand. It is held after about 12 years. The last caste was in 2014. The next reign will be in 2026.
According to folk history, Nanda devi was the Isht devi of the Katyuri dynasty of Kumaon along with the kings of Garhwal. Being a presiding deity, Nanda devi is referred to as Rajarajeshwari. Nanda devi is seen as the sister of Parvati, but in some cases, Nanda devi is considered as the form of Parvati. Prominent among many names of Nanda are Shiva, Sunanda, Shubhananda, Nandini. Being worshiped uniformly throughout Uttarakhand, the entire state of Nanda devi has been seen as a source of religious unity.
