The place is named after a 350-year-old temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva known as Mukteshwar Dham. It is believed that Lord Shiva grants devotees "salvation". A beautiful nature walk of around 2 hours will take you to the hilltop. You get a wonderful 180-degree view of the mighty Himalayas from here. Nandadevi, Nandakot, Nandaghunti, Trisul, and Panchachuli are the major peaks visible.
