The Himalayan Monal, also known as Impeyan Monal, is a bird of the Pheasant family, is the State Bird of Uttarakhand. Himalayan Monal is a colorful bird. The male Himalayan monal looks quite different from the female monal. Male Himalayan monal is bright-colored while female Himalayan monal is dull-colored. These beautiful birds are hunted both for the food and their feather. it is hoped that through their status as the Uttarakhand state bird, awareness of the species will be raised, which will keep the bird safe in the future.
