- Govind wildlife sanctuary
The Govind Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It is named after Govind Ballabh Pant, a prominent Indian freedom fighter and politician who became Home Minister in 1950 and is remembered for his achievement in establishing Hindi as an official language. The park is in the high reaches of the Garhwal Himalayas. The total area of Govind Pashu Vihar National Park and Sanctuary is 958 km2 (370 sq mi). The Snow Leopard Project started by the Government of India is being managed in this sanctuary. In addition, it is one of the remaining strongholds in the Himalayas of the Bearded Vulture.
- Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary
Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, known as Kedarnath musk deer Sanctuary or Kedarnath Forest Jeeva Prabha, is spread in Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand. Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1972 and named after the Kedarnath Temple. This place is located in the Alaknanda Valley of Chamoli district. It is spread over an area of 967 sq km where trees of Alpine, Coniferous, Oak, Pine, Birch and many other species are found.
- Askot wildlife sanctuary
Ascot Sanctuary is a famous sanctuary located about 54 km from the city of Pithoragarh. The Ascot Sanctuary covers an area of 284 square kilometers. This is a beautiful tourist destination for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. Ascot Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1986 with the objective of conserving musk deer and its habitat. Although musk deer are present in significant numbers in the sanctuary, they are another endangered species as they are an endangered species. This place is a heaven for pheasants and chokers. Ascot Sanctuary is blessed with a large collection of herbs, shrubs, trees and climbers.
- Sonanadi wildlife sanctuary
The Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 301.18 sq km. Surrounded by thick forests of sal, rosewood and bamboo trees, Sonandi Wildlife Park is one of the famous tourist destinations of Nainital which should not be left out at any cost.
Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary was established on 9 January 1987 and is associated with 'Project Tiger'. Corbett National Park and Sonandi Wildlife Sanctuary include Corbett Tiger Reserve which boasts the second tiger-panthers population in the world.
- Binsar wildlife sanctuary
Spread over 45.59 sq km, Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is the main tourist destination here. This sanctuary, located 30 km from the city of Almora. This place is like a natural habitat for many creatures besides leopard, musk deer, wild cat, chitala, fox, langur, monkey, porcupine, flying squirrel, barking sounding deer.
- Benog wildlife sanctuary
The Beenog Wildlife Sanctuary is situated amidst dense forests and is surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Himalayas on all sides. Chaukambha and Bandarpanch are beautiful peaks seen from this sanctuary. Earlier this sanctuary used to be the natural habitat of extinct birds named Red-Blood Blue Magpai and Himalayan Quail, later this century was converted into a bird-watching destination.
The Benog Wildlife Sanctuary is a part of Rajaji National Park. And this grand hill is one of the most visited attractions of the city. It is a haven of nearly extinct species such as deer, leopards and red billy. While talking about flora, in addition to deodar trees, some medicinal plants are also found in this sanctuary. The Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, with its varied species of wildlife, provides an excellent path to the pine-clad slopes surrounded by the Himalayan peaks for a refreshing walk.
- Nandhaur Wildlife Sanctuary
This wildlife sanctuary of Uttarakhand was established in 2012, which is spread between the Gola and Sharda rivers in Haldwani Forest Division, it covers an area of 269.96 km square. The sanctuary is a link between the Brahmadev and Sukhlafata wildlife sanctuaries in Nepal and the western forests of Ramnagar and the Terai Central Forest Division in India.
